Got a folder of patch dumps from an old synth? Load a .syx file here, pick a patch from the bank and play it on the on-screen keys or with a test phrase, on an emulation of the machine it was made for. Download the phrase as WAV or MIDI. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded. Free, no account.

A synthesizer stores its sounds as numbers, and sends them as System Exclusive MIDI messages: one patch, or a whole bank of 32. Saved to disk that is a .syx file, and it is the sound itself, not a recording of it.
In the Studio these machines load a .syx from their device card, with a whole song around the patch.
